Botanical Drawings
I began this series of conte/charcoal drawings in 2013. They document plants I find growing on our property that are native or escaped from farm fields. I find the sedges and grasses particularly beautiful. Space is always an important element in my work, but in these simple drawings it is negative space rather than illusionistic space that predominates. As someone who chronicles my life, I think I will continue these drawings for years to come; they connect me to the beautiful place where I live.
